AMB82 prototype to production

Hi,

I am currently working on surveillance project. It includes human detection and upload images to webserver. I want to convert this as product. I need camera and amb82 module support, in order to make product.

Your help is truly appreciated.

Hi @surendra121,

You may fill in this form so that we can better understand your projects and company.

Once we receive it, we will contact you via email for further support.

Thank you.

Hi @Pammy,

Thank you for quick reply.

I have filled the form.

We have immediate requirement, kindly help us to proceed on this.

Also I need to know, image sensor module (JXF37) for RTL8735DBM. can we get this with IR cut?

Thank you.

Hi @surendra121,

JXF37 does not support IR-cut.

Below is the list of camera sensors that are currently supported:

The camera sensor must be compatible with the AMB82 Mini pinout, so customization of the camera module may be required. Kindly refer to What is the mipi connection for AMB82-mini (Ameba-pro2)? — Ameba Arduino AIoT Documentation v1.1 documentation.

You may contact a camera module manufacturer to produce a custom module; however, note that manufacturers might have a minimum order quantity (MOQ).

One manufacturer you may consider is Taiyee.

Hi @Pammy ,

Few days back I have contacted Taiyee over email. I couldn’t get any reply from them. As per my research, we can get RTL8735 module from Ameba RTL8735BDM 模組|Ameba IoT 雙頻影像 AI 模組 .

For our requirement, we need about 4000+ quantities (RTL8735DBM and Camera)for every year.

Currently we are unable to select Image sensor due to IR-cut feature.

Kindly guide, how to proceed on this?.

Hi @surendra121

Understand. Let me discuss with my team, and we will contact you via email.

Thank you.

Hi @Pammy ,

Thank you for your support. I have found a module from below link,

module is mentioned in the link you had shared (list of supported camera).

I got update from above manufacturer.

Can you please clarify on this.

Also, Is RTL8735DBM module capable of reading external camera video stream and perform human detection or face detection?

Also, can you confirm JXF37 is a 5MP camera but it support low resolution. This, I got from sensor.h file.

And, i have gone through your website with reference to below link,

[AmebaPro2] Introduction for Switch flow(Day / Night mode) — AmebaPro2’s Documentation v0.1 documentation

Can we able to get this camera mentioned in the link.

Hello! I wish you success with your product. We are also developing an IoT product based on Ameba, using a camera with server-side detection. We chose the path of developing a custom camera module, which is a more industrially reliable approach for mass production due to tighter technical control, supply chain guarantees, and full customization to your requirements (sensor, optics, filters, flex cable length and mounting types, auto/manual focus, etc.).

We selected from the sensors supported by Ameba and then ordered the module from Supertek. You can find them via a search engine, or feel free to message me directly — I’ll be happy to share details and contacts.

Hi @surendra121,

May I check whether you are designing your own PCB? If so, you may want to review the hardware design guide before proceeding with the design:

We can provide a hardware review after your PCB design is completed.

Based on sensor.h, currently only GC4653 is supported.

If support for GC4663 is required, we will need to conduct an internal review to assess feasibility. To support it, bringing up the sensor is needed, similar to what this user did (Trying to use a JX-F57 camera sensor, how can I do so?).

Yes, it can perform face detection. You can refer to the FreeRTOS SDK for example.

Application Note: NN — AmebaPro2's Documentation v0.1 documentation

As for reading external camera video stream, may i know what kind of external camera you are looking for? Currently the camera can only be connected via MIPI connector.

PM team may need to get involved if you are interested in the camera.

Hi @Pammy

I want to know, RTL8735DBM - is this module can read external IP camera (RTSP or ONVIF) over WIFI and perform human detection?

Surely will contact you regarding this. due to selection of camera, we have not yet completed design part and we request your help (if we face difficulty) once camera selection is done.

is it possible for us to get the camera given in image? . I could see, some research is already done from your end. since you are using supported camera with AMB82 and it also have IR-cut added. may I know which camera model you are using, I am curious to know because of image quality.

Hi @surendra121 ,

GC4663 is supported; we do have the sensor driver.

Refer to ameba-rtos-pro2/project/realtek_amebapro2_v0_example/inc/sensor.h at 35cab423e6ef820981ad567407759851a696e4bf · Ameba-AIoT/ameba-rtos-pro2 · GitHub.

As for the inquiry on reading video from an external IP camera, receiving external data is possible, but currently there’s no hardware support to decode the external data into a format that is compatible for NN processing.

Regarding the camera mentioned in the AN, we will check internally and update you once we have more information.

Meanwhile, you may proceed with GC4663 if it meets your project requirements.

Hi @Pammy

As we discussed earlier, should i proceed with GC4663 or GC4653 ?

Hi @surendra121,

Arduino SDK currently supports the GC4653 sensor. While GC4663 support can be added to the Arduino SDK, it will require some time to be added in.

However, both the GC4653 and GC4663 are fully supported in the FreeRTOS SDK. If you specifically need to use the GC4663, I recommend using the FreeRTOS SDK for your development.

Can you share details regarding freeRTOS sdk for AMB82, where can i find?

Hi @surendra121,

This is the FreeRTOS SDK: GitHub - Ameba-AIoT/ameba-rtos-pro2: Realtek Official IoT Software Development Kit for Ameba Series SoC: (Ameba Pro2)

You can also refer to its Application Note: Realtek AmebaPro2 application note — AmebaPro2's Documentation v0.1 documentation
