What camera modules (not just sensors) are tested and recommended for AmebaPro2?

Hello Realtek Support Team and AmebaPro2 Community, I am working on a project with **AmebaPro2 (AMB82-MINI)** and need information about compatible camera modules.

While I’ve seen the list of supported sensors in the documentation, this doesn’t answer the critical question: What actual camera MODULES (not just sensors) from which brands/manufacturers are available and can be physically connected to AmebaPro2, considering the connector pinout, power requirements, and form factor?"

I have successfully implemented a fast photo capture system using the built-in camera interface, achieving ~1.1 seconds from cold boot to first photo. The system works well with the current camera module, but I’m exploring options for upgrading to a better camera sensor.

1. **Recommended Camera Modules:**

- What camera modules are officially tested and recommended for AmebaPro2?

- Are there specific vendors/suppliers you recommend?

- Which modules are included with AmebaPro2 development kits?

2. **24-pin FPC Connector Pinout:**

- Can you provide the official pinout for the 24-pin FPC camera connector?

- What are the MIPI CSI-2 signal assignments (CLK+, CLK-, D0+, D0-, D1+, D1-)?

- What are the power pins (3.3V, 1.8V) and ground connections?

- Where are the I2C control pins located?

3. **Sensor Compatibility:**

- I see that IMX327 is listed in the supported sensors. Are there camera modules with IMX327 that are compatible with AmebaPro2’s 24-pin connector?

- What about other high-quality sensors like IMX307, GC4653, etc.?

4. **Adapter Compatibility:**

- I found a “24-pin to 15-pin CSI adapter” designed for RDK X3 development board. Would this adapter work with AmebaPro2 to connect Raspberry Pi camera modules (like IMX327LQR)?

- If not, are there adapters available for connecting Raspberry Pi CSI cameras to AmebaPro2?

5. **Documentation:**

- Where can I find detailed camera interface documentation?

- Are there schematics or reference designs available?

Thank you

Hello inxnik, I am currently working on using my own camera with the AMB82-MINI and after speaking to the Realtek team they have given me some information to start. There are some datasheets and driver codes which may be relevant. Here are the links to their website, hope it helps!

Did not know I still had this page opened, the notification of your reply surprised me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. You should still be able to access the pages from their main page or the link that you have replied me with.

Hi @inxnik,

JXF37 is officially tested and the default camera sensor used for AmebaPro2 Mini.
You can refer to Contact for camera sensor module manufacturing for camera module manufacturer.

Here are some of the documentations for camera module which includes schematics designs, camera sensor driver-related docs. To download them, you need to register an account for Realtek IoT/Wi-Fi MCU Solutions.

For sensors such as IMX327, IMX307, GC4653, and others—if they are listed in sensor.h, it means they are supported by the AmebaPro2 Mini. You can search for these modules online or check with camera module manufacturers like Tai Yee. However, you need to take note of the pinout.

Regarding the adapter, we have not evaluated a specific one. Please refer to the adapter documentation at AMB82-mini Datasheets Download-en – Realtek IoT/Wi-Fi MCU Solutions.

Thank you, now I can download (re-register and logged in).
