Wireless fidelity is well known as Wifi and available in almost all platforms nowadays.
Wifi is a type of wireless technology by which we can share the data from one device to another device and vice versa without using wires.
Wifi is based on the [IEEE 802.11] family of standards, which are commonly used for [local area networking] of devices and internet access. Wi‑Fi is a trademark of the non-profit [Wi-Fi Alliance] , which restricts the use of the term Wi-Fi Certified to products that successfully complete [interoperability] certification testing. As of 2017, the Wi-Fi Alliance consisted of more than 800 companies from around the world. As of 2019, over 3.05 billion Wi-Fi enabled devices are shipped globally each year.

Thanks @Anmol_Rattan_Singh for sharing!
WiFi is a very important element in IoT, just to supplement a little more,
Most WiFi microcontroller comes with only WiFi standard IEEE 802.11 b/g/n which primarily target 2.4GHz frequency band, only a handful of other WiFi microcontroller support IEEE 802.11 a/n which gives you coverage to 5GHz frequency band, beside the already-supported 2.4GHz.
