RTL8735B Fast-Ethernet Interface is fully functional or not?

Dear all

I want to use the Ethernet interface of the RTL8735B chip

Pins: 67=EPHY_TXOP , 126=EPHY_TXON , 68=EPHY_RXIP , 127=EPHY_RXIN

which are directly connected to the RTL8735BDM-A20 Module

Pins 81,82,83,84 respectively. This is documented in the Schematic provided

by Realtek https://www.realmcu.com/en/Resources/DownloadSingleFile/AMB82-MINI-EVB-Amebapro2?panel=Hardware&prod=RTL8735B-Series&version=v2.1

This interface is even routed to a RJ45 connector with integrated magnetics,

as you can see in the upper left corner on the Realtek Amebapro2 EVB Board,

but not populated !?!?!?

Dear Realtek, please tell us if this 10/100Mb/s Fast-Ethernet interface is fully functional and

please publish the schematics of this Amebapro2 EVB Board, or at least the 4 Ethernet pins,

to know if the magnetics center taps need a supply voltage (normally 2Volt), or not.

Thank you very much

CC

Hi, Sir

Good day,
Consistent with the information you’ve found, the current EVB (Evaluation Board) design does not support the Ethernet function. Consequently, the related components have not been populated on the board.
Thanks

Hi @iot,

We do support Ethernet over USB OTG which you may want to consider. Please refer to the example below: ameba-rtos-pro2/component/example/usb_example/example_media_rtsp_ethernet.c at main · Ameba-AIoT/ameba-rtos-pro2 · GitHub

Hi @Pammy

I saw the USB-Ethernet support and example, but I want to use the existing

RTL8735B Ethernet interface, which is supported in the FreeRTOS-pro2 SDK too !

I can easily solder the 4 EPHY_* pins of the AMB82 module to a RJ45 connector

with integrated Ethernet-magnetics, please answer me this simple question:

Will this Ethernet port work or not ?

Thanks

CC

Hi @iot,

The Pro2 EVB shown in the post is a common EVB for the Pro series, and not all features are supported. The Ethernet port is currently not supported. Hence, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter is another alternative.

Hi @Pammy

Please understand, I’m not interested in the USB-to-Ethernet solution,

the only interface I’m interested is the 4-pin EPHY_* Fast-Ethernet interface.

I try to reformulate my question:

Is the hardware 4-pin EPHY_* interface validated for the RTL8735B chip,

or has the interface some problems (hardware bugs, …) and it cannot be used ?

If your answer contains any confidential information, please answer me in a private email.

Thanks
