As you have probably found out - connecting the antenna to a AMB82-Mini can be tricky due to the male U.FL connector’s awkward position on the board. Follow these steps for a reliable connection:
-
Prepare your tools: Gather a small, flat-ended tool (e.g., a 1.5mm Allen key or T6 Torx driver) to use for pressing the connectors together later. A honking huge magnifying glass or loupe will also make the process much easier.
-
Route the antenna wire: Carefully thread the antenna cable through the row of pins on the same side of the board as the U.FL connector. This keeps the wire stable and accessible.
-
Align the connectors: Hold the board steady with one hand. Use your fingers to guide the female U.FL connector on the antenna cable over the male connector on the board. Leverage the nearby pins to keep the wire from slipping.
-
Secure the connection: Once the connectors are aligned, use your small tool to gently but firmly press down on the female connector until it clicks into place and feels snug. Avoid excessive force to prevent damage.
-
Finalize routing: Carefully lift the antenna wire up and over the pins, then route it along the edge of the board (up or down, depending on your setup) to avoid interference.
If the connectors don’t mate smoothly, double-check alignment and try again. With practice, this becomes straightforward.
