Using RT8735B for wireless transmission of external UVC to Raspberry Pi

Hi,

I have found some older posts regarding UVC support on the RT8735B, but some of them said that the firmware or examples were under NDA. I am working on my senior capstone for my undergrad, and I was wondering if this is still true or if there is someone I could contact to sign the NDA so I can get the example. I am using an ISP that outputs as a UVC plug-and-play device.

Hi,

That is a UVC device example where the RTL8735B acts like a USB webcam and sends video over USB to a PC. I need the RTL8735B to act as a USB host to my camera (enumerate it, request frames, etc) to encode and push the frames into its main pipeline and restream them over WiFi. I can’t find an available sample that does the UVC host and WiFi stream for an external camera on the RTL8735B.

Would you be able to help me with this?

Thanks for your message. At the moment, the available example focuses on the UVC device mode, where the RTL8735B works as a USB webcam. The UVC host + Wi-Fi streaming use case you described isn’t included in the current sample set.

That said, we do see the value of this feature, and it’s something we can consider for a future update or porting effort. If there are any developments or sample support added later on, we’ll be sure to share them.
