E-Ink / E-Paper Function Updates
Posted on September 5, 2020
Hi all, here is the latest update on Ameba E-Ink’s new function. After implemented functions of printing image and printing dotted points which could form a QR code pattern. Finally, the function of printing the alphanumeric text is here.
Firstly, I’d like to express many thanks to my team. With the help and support from them, we sourced this E-Paper module hardware from “Waveshare Electronics“.
However, there were some issues encountered in the first place when we started the development. The library provided by Waveshare was not fully supporting our Ameba board but could work well on the Arduino board. With the help from our team member, who provided the idea to search for the Active Matrix Electrophoretic Display (AMEPD)’s name online. We successfully found the manufacturer “Good Display(clickable)”, which is the vendor of the 2.9-inch e-paper display partial refresh (GDEH029A1).
From the official website, we sourced a workable library that can directly plug and run on the Ameba board. But 1 disadvantage of this library is that it does not support a variety of functions. Therefore, I need to do some extra works to the two available libraries to allow the functions from Waveshare to work on our board.
Recently, the new function of displaying alphanumeric text in different fonts have added to our library. You may find a video introducing this function soon from our official Facebook page. You could modify the text you wanted to print and combine it with other projects, such as using it as a display of a barometer or thermometer, etc.
Thanks for keep watching on Ameba Community and please stay tuned to wait for more functions ahead.
